Georges Wines,
Clare Valley
George Family Winegrowers follow a set of simple yet impassioned mantras. Grow nothing but premium fruit. Make nothing but quality wine.
As custodians of magnificent Clare Valley vineyards from the renowned shiraz fields of Armagh to highly prized riesling, cabernets and diverse contemporary varieties. Nick George and son Alex celebrate their region’s natural gifts with a respected portfolio of richly characterful wines.
Georges vineyards stretch the whole length of the Clare Valley wine region, from the historic hamlet of Armagh in the north-west to the southern gateway of Auburn, bringing together a complete range of fruit qualities essential for the premium wine styles the family wishes to produce.
The Armagh Vineyard, previously known as the Springwood Vineyard, provides low-yielding, dry-grown shiraz grapes nurtured on a desirable clay over limestone soil profile across four distinct blocks planted from 1996 to 2000.
Cropped intently at just 2-2.5 tonnes per acre to attain the flavour intensity required, each of the blocks brings to the winemakers their unique character, from rich plum and dark berry notes to balanced savoury and spice elements, as well as tasteful, peppery tannins to medium bodied, gastronomic appeal.
After 22 vintages, the family’s original vision still remains. Celebrating the Clare Valley region’s natural gifts with a respected portfolio of richly characterful wines to appeal to all wine drinkers..
